How we started
Developing a unique understanding of the wine industry
Prior to Vinebase, our CEO, Rachel, spent years getting to know the wine and tech industries from the inside-out. Rachel comes from a digital marketing background, most notably spending the majority of her career at Facebook. She started a popular instagram account (@the.wine.nerd), and began taking on research and consulting work for wineries, trade organizations, and other wine startups.
Vinebase was inspired by a viral hashtag
When COVID hit, wineries struggled with tasting room closures and cancelled wholesale contracts. Rachel jumped into action and created #SupportOurWineries to drive consumers to wineries' websites to purchase and support.

The campaign went viral with tens of thousands of unique visitors in a matter of days. But wineries struggled to capture sales.
Vinebase launched in Spring 2021
Rachel recruited a scrappy, yet mighty team from across wine & tech. Together, we worked tirelessly for months building the foundation of Vinebase from the ground up to really work for wine. We officially launched with 10 wineries selling through the platform and have grown leaps and bounds since.
